Nick Cave sells Grade I listed Brighton seafront mansion to city high-fliers for £2.9m

Decked out with flamingo pink carpets and walls and a shamrock green master bedroom, it is clearly the home of a rock star.

But Nick Cave has now sold his palatial seaside mansion to a couple of city high-fliers for £2.9m.

The distinctive eight-bedroom home sits on the coveted Lewes Crescent in Brighton which overlooks the sea.

The Grade I-listed Regency house has four bathrooms, a gym, study, library and drawing room and has access to communal private gardens.

Cave, 65 and his designer wife, Susie Bick, 56, moved into the address more than 20 years ago.

The couple bought it in 2002 for a mere £165,000 and have seen a bumper profit from the sale.

Susie Bick opened her clothes design business, The Vampire’s Wife, at premises just a stone’s throw away.

However in 2014 the couple suffered a tragedy when their son Arthur, 15, died after falling from cliffs not far from the house in Brighton.

And Cave’s eldest son Jethro Lazenby, 31, also tragically passed away last year.

Jethro died on May 7 2022 – just two days after he was released from prison in Australia.

At the time of his death, a judge had ordered Jethro to attend a drug treatment programme and to stay away from his mother for two years, The Metro reports.

The 31-year-old had previously enjoyed a successful career as a model and had acted using the stage name Jethro Cave.

Following Arthur’s death, the couple struggled to continue life at the house and eventually put it on the market and moved to London.

But in November 2021, Cave wrote on his The Red Hand Files blog: “Brighton had just become too sad.

“We did, however, return once we realised that, regardless of where we lived, we just took our sadness with us.

“These days, though, we spend much of our time in London, in a tiny, secret, pink house, where we are mostly happy.”
