But Nicole Kidman’s infamous ‘seal clap’ is something the actress and husband Keith Urban seemed keen to forget.
Speaking to Andy Cohen during CNN’s New Year’s Eve on Sunday night, the couple appeared to be annoyed by a question about the way Nicole applauded.

‘You gave her the advice to clap with her hands like this so she wouldn’t damage her jewellery and did you ever expect… like that became such a meme – everybody was talking about it,’ Andy said to Keith as he broached the subject.
The TV host continued: ‘Did you ever expect that that would become such a thing?’
At first, the country music star rolled his eyes and shook his head at the question.
Keith then responded: ‘I mean, it’s called a logical clap when you don’t want to slam your hands together with rings but what do you want to do?’

An unimpressed Nicole also clapped back, telling Andy she thought the way her hands connected at an awards event was a trivial matter.
‘I wish that there was more important things to be concerned about or that people were focused on more important things than that sort of clapping,’ she said.

At the Oscars in February last year, Nicole sent the internet into hysterics after bizarrely applauding in a seal-like fashion, with fans flocking to social media to comment on the strange hand movement.
The Big Little Lies star later broke her silence on the incident, confessing to KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O that she was afraid of damaging her giant Harry Winston diamond ring.
‘It was really awkward, and I was like: ‘Gosh, I really want to clap’, she explained.
She added: ‘So therefore I’m clapping but it was really difficult because I had this huge ring on which was not my own but was absolutely gorgeous and I was terrified of damaging it.’
