Nine-year-old girl sends Santa a message in the snow

This year, a nine-year-old girl from Canada was hoping Santa wouldn’t just leave things at her house — but that he would take something, too.

Jennifer Murphy from St. John’s in Newfoundland and Labrador was playing in the snow with her mother, Jo-Ann Murphy, when she realized she should probably clear up a few things with St. Nick by writing a message in the snow.

Using red ink or liquid, she scrawled across her white-covered front lawn: ‘Santa stop here. Leave presents, take brother!’

Forget coal! Nine-year-old Jennifer Murphy left a message for Santa in the snow outside her house that read ‘Santa stop here. Leave presents, take brother!’

Jennifer seemed to be thinking that her 13-year-old brother Ryan had been a naughty boy that year. But rather than telling Santa to put coal in his stocking, she hoped he’d just take him away altogether.

Jennifer’s mom thought the stunt was quite funny, and recorded a video that she posed to Facebook, where it has racked up thousands of views.

CBC Newfoundland and Labrador also posted the video on Twitter, where it has earned an additional 53,000 views and counting.

The clip pans over the message on the lawn, and Jo-Anna explains how her daughter got to work on it as soon as they had their first snowfall.

Jo-Anna jokingly says in the video, ‘Hey guys, we had our first storm today, so we did something a little bit different than build snowmans [sic].’

The bold message wasn’t enough for the vengeful sister, though, and she added another one that continued on the side of the house.

In hopes that Santa wouldn’t lump her and her brother together on the naughty list, Jennifer left more details.

‘Santa, I tried! Brother was the worst…’ she wrote, explaining that whatever happened between her and her brother was all his fault, not hers.

Jo-Anna told CBC News that big brother Ryan took it all in stride, and rather than get mad, he found the whole thing hilarious and saw it as a joke between siblings.
