Non-league AFC Crewe offer Cristiano Ronaldo first contract proposal since Man United exit

Non-League AFC Crewe – who play in the 14th tier of English football – make tongue-in-cheek ‘official’ offer to out-of-contract Cristiano Ronaldo… as they reveal club whip-around has allowed them to make Portugal star thier ‘highest’ earner at £35-a-week

  • Cristiano Ronaldo mutually cut ties with Manchester United on Tuesday evening
  • Ronaldo’s exit stemmed from last week’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan
  • AFC Crewe offered Ronaldo the chance to continue his career in the 14th tier
  • Non-league club have offered the superstar club-record wages of £35 a week

Cristiano Ronaldo has received his first proposal since becoming a free agent with 14th-tier AFC Crewe tabling him a cheeky contract offer.

The five-time Ballon d’Or mutually parted ways with Manchester United on Tuesday following last week’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old hit out at a lack of progress at the club and even accused the Red Devil’s of betrayal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has endured a difficult start to the season under United boss Erik ten Hag

United manager Erik ten Hag was firmly in the firing line as was former interim boss Ralf Rangnick who Ronaldo described as ‘not a coach’.

Former team-mates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney also came under fire for their criticism of the Portuguese star.

Ronaldo angled for a move in the summer but despite the best efforts of agent Jorge Mendes, he was unable to secure his Old Trafford exit.

The explosive tell-all interview made his position at the club untenable and he now finds himself without a club for the first time in his career.

But non-league AFC Crewe have launched an audacious bid to land Ronaldo on a club-record £35-a-week deal.

Despite the offer breaking the club’s wage records, the proposal is a significant reduction on the £500,000-a-week deal he had at Manchester United.

The 14th tier-outfit play in the Crewe and District League Premier Division and are understood have had a changing-room whip-round to fund Ronaldo’s transfer.

The club tweeted: ‘We can confirm that the club has made an official approach to sign free agent Cristiano Ronaldo on a one year deal.

‘Should Cristiano accept the offer, he would become AFC Crewe’s highest paid player, taking home £35 per week.’
