A surf shack which once held pride of place in one of Australia’s most picturesque beaches has hit the market at an amazingly low cost.

The former Noosa Surf Lifesaving Club building, a small wooden shack built in the 1930s, comes at modest size and with an even more modest price of $15,000.

With its traditional Queenslander style make up and racks in the roof designed for  surf board storage, the shack would be the perfect acquisition for a surf lover.

But there’s a twist.

The shack is no longer at its beachside location, having been uprooted and listed for sale on Facebook.

It is described online as a ‘charming old Queensland surf shack seeking new custodian, (it) would make (a) marvellous cottage, studio, guest room, et cetera’.

The shack found a second life as the ‘Tip Top Tip Shop’ at the Noosa Refuge Station, before being listed for sale.

In its hey day the shack used to draw as many as 650 customers during a week.

The shack’s timber, including the floorboards, are described as being in remarkable shape considering the age of the and the use it has received in the past.

Its buyer will be required to relocate the shack themselves, however it was originally built to stand on stumps so it could be kept on sand dunes.

When the new Surf Lifesaving Club was built on Hastings Street the old building was moved inland to Doonan.

At $15,000, the asking price is well below Noosa’s median price of $870,000.

The wider Noosaville area, which includes Noosa Heads, has a median house price of $940,000 and a median rental price of $580.

The area has also seen 118 property sales so far in 2019 with an annual capitol growth of 5.55 per cent.
