  • Northern Ireland beat Lithuania 1-0 in a home World Cup qualifier on Friday

  • Northern Ireland had no chance of qualifying for the tournament before kick off 
  • Northern Ireland face Italy, who need a win to secure top spot, in final game 


Northern Ireland may not be going to the World Cup but they were able to enjoy a 1-0 win over Lithuania in their penultimate qualifier.

Visiting defender Benas Satkus turned the ball into his own net in the first half and the own goal proved enough to five Northern Ireland all three points.
