It is normally the go-to meal at the end of a night out to try and fend off a hangover. 

But from January 1 doner kebabs will be served on airplanes, but initially only for those flying between Germany and Turkey. 

Turkish carrier Corendon Airlines announced the addition to their menus earlier this month. 

A doner kebab will set you back just £6.60 (8 euros) with ayran, a cold, savory yogurt drink available to be served with it. 

German newspaper Bild has since described Corendon as the ‘first airline to serve doner in an airplane.’

The Turkish snack turned late-night staple is being marketed at German customers who eat an estimated two million doner kebabs a day. 

However, if successful, it is thought Corendon Airlines may also introduce kebabs on the menus of other routes. 

The Turkish airline currently operates flights out of seven major UK airports, including Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham.

Atilay Batu, Corendon Airlines’ Deputy General Manager of Operations, shared the announcement during a press conference at Istanbul Airport Correspondents Association’s office.

He said according to Türkiye Today: ‘We’ve signed a new agreement with a local company in Germany.

‘Our thought process was simple—what do people in Germany eat the most? Turkish doner stands out significantly.

‘Both our Turkish and German passengers love it, so, we decided to offer doner on flights originating from Germany.

‘They make it exceptionally well; I’ve tried it myself and loved it.

‘I’m confident our passengers will be delighted with this new offerin
