‘You’re not going anywhere until you cut your d*** off’: Man is allegedly forced to slice his penis during terrifying kidnapping

  • Three men face torture and kidnapping charges in Southport Magistrates

A Gold Coast man was allegedly kidnapped and tortured by three men during a horror ordeal that saw him allegedly forced to slice off part of his own penis.

A 30-year-old man was the first of the three alleged attackers to face charges – which include torture and kidnapping – over the incident alleged to have occurred at a home at Mermaid Beach, on Queensland’s Gold Coast, in September 2020.

After being assaulted and robbed, the victim, 35, was told ‘you’re not going anywhere until you cut your dick off’ by one of the alleged assailants, Southport Magistrates Court heard.

He was then allegedly handed a serrated knife.

He had gone to the home to shower and collect personal effects, before the three  men arrived and allegedly bashed him and stole $200 from him, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

They then allegedly took his mobile phone and armed themselves with knives before the victim was brutally forced to injure himself.

Court documents showed the victim was ‘extremely fearful’ of being stabbed and terrified ‘his penis was going to be cut off’.

His terror led to him using a knife to slice about 2mm off his penis, eventually using a mobile phone as a hammer to cut because the knife too blunt.

The 30-year-old accused, who the court heard knew the victim for six years, allegedly gave him a towel and a tampon to stem the bleeding after allegedly demanding the victim apologise and say sorry and ‘say it like you mean it’.

After being released, he went to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

The court heard that more than five months later the victim remains in constant pain, cannot urinate properly and has suffered ongoing mental health issues as a result.

After displaying coronavirus symptoms, the accused was granted bail on strict conditions, including regular reporting to police, completing drug tests and remaining in his Burleigh Heads home.

Outside the court, his defence solicitor, Campbell MacCallum, said his client would be defending the charges and claimed early allegations could sometimes be inaccurate.

‘He played the lesser role in the incident against what seems to be a fairly sensitive area of the anatomy which was chosen to be injured,’ he said.

Mr MacCallum also maintained his client wasn’t involved in the alleged coercion to cut the victim’s penis.
