Nottingham Forest are set to finalise a £4m agreement for Bordeaux star Hwang Ui-jo

Nottingham Forest are close to agreement on a £4million deal for Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jo, who will then join Olympiacos on loan.

Olympiacos, who like Forest are owned by Greek media mogul Evangelos Marinakis, are set to land the 29-year-old on a season-long loan following his arrival at the City Ground. 

The South Korea international scored 11 goals in 32 Ligue 1 appearances last campaign as Bordeaux were relegated from the top flight.

He is then expected to leave Forest temporarily and join Olympiacos on a season-long loan

The Premier League newcomers have also discussed a similar deal for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler but are yet to agree a fee.

Despite making an astonishing 16 signings since earning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs, Forest are keen to continue bolstering their squad, even if the new assets instantly leave on loan to gain valuable experience.

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is the most recent and most expensive addition to arrive at the City Ground this summer, following his blockbuster £42.5million move last week.

The 29-year-old’s arrival would mark Steve Cooper’s 17th signing for Forest this summer

Gibbs-White joined a glut of fresh stars including Jesse Lingard, Taiwo Awoniyi, Emmanuel Dennis and Neco Williams on permanent deals.

Nottingham Forest missed out on a second successive Premier League victory on Saturday, after Demarai Gray’s late equaliser rescued a point for Everton at Goodison Park.

Sitting 10th in the division, Cooper’s side host Tottenham on Sunday having experienced a win, a draw and a defeat from their opening three fixtures of the campaign.
