Nottingham Forest close in on TRIPLE swoop for Emmanuel Dennis, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate… as the Premier League newcomers look set to surpass £100m in summer spending

  • Nottingham Forest are on the brink of spending over £100million this summer
  • Emmanuel Dennis and Cheikhou Kouyate will likely follow new star Remo Freuler
  • Watford striker Dennis is due to join Forest for a fee worth in the region of £20m
  • Freuler has agreed to join for £7.6m from Atalanta while Kouyate is a free agent
  • If the trio join, Nottingham Forest will have signed 15 new players this summer

Nottingham Forest are closing in on a triple swoop for Emmanuel Dennis, Cheikhou Kouyate and Remo Freuler that would take their summer spending past the £100million mark.

Dennis is due to join from Watford for a fee that could reach £20m, while Freuler arrives for £7.6m from Atalanta and fellow midfielder Kouyate is currently without a club.

Forest’s frenzied summer spending campaign shows no sign of slowing.

If the trio sign, they will take the number of new players who have moved to the City Ground since promotion to 15, which includes on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Dennis scored 10 goals for the Hornets last term but his efforts were not enough to save them from relegation, meaning the club have been braced for bids for both Dennis and winger Ismaila Sarr ever since.

As long as there are no late hitches, Dennis will compete for a place in a Forest attack short of top-level experience.

Freuler has been a key player for Atalanta during their recent Champions League campaigns while Kouyate, who can play at centre-back as well as in midfield, has huge experience with both West Ham and Crystal Palace.

The club’s first top flight campaign since 1999 began with a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park last weekend.

Steve Cooper’s side will return home to face West Ham this Sunday.
