Nottingham woman arrested after death of 39-year-old man

A young woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an incident at a house in Nottingham.

Police were called to an address in Strathmore Close, Hucknall, early yesterday morning.

Upon arrival, they found a 39-year-old man with life-threatening injuries who later died in hospital.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A police cordon remained in place this morning.

Nottinghamshire Police said: ‘A 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man on Sunday (February 18).

‘Officers were called to an address in Strathmore Close, Hucknall, at around 5.40am. A 39-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital, where he sadly died.’

Lynn O’Reilly, 62, of Elizabeth Close, said: ‘I saw all the police there. They were there most of the day.

‘It’s not a normal thing for around here. You just do not hear of it often. It’s shocking but just not the normal thing that happens.’

Steve Goldingay, 67, of Ascott Drive, said: ‘It’s reasonably quiet round here – you get the odd incident.

‘I have lived here 23 years, it’s pretty good generally speaking.’ 

Lynn Bailey, 66, of Long Hill Road, added: ‘It’s tragic really.’I have never heard of anything like this to happen before.’
