Novak Djokovic moved himself one step closer to equaling Margaret Court’s record of 24 grand slam singles after holding on amid a late surge from American prodigy Ben Shelton.

The No. 2 seed survived set point in the third, and final set, to triumph 6-3 6-2 7-6 – despite the will of Shelton and the partisan Arthur Ashe crowd.

Djokovic will play the winner of tonight’s semifinal between No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 3 Daniil Medvedev.
