McKenzie Robinson was on Thursday charged with distributing a prohibited visual recording after allegedly releasing her and Staggs’ sex tape

The woman allegedly at the centre of a revenge porn scandal involving NRL star Kotoni Staggs has been identified as 18-year-old McKenzie Robinson.

Robinson was charged on Thursday with distributing a prohibited visual recording after allegedly releasing a sex tap involving her and Staggs.

Robinson reportedly messaged the Brisbane Broncos second-rower on Instagram before the pair met up and slept together soon after.

Robinson allegedly asked the 21-year-old if she could film the sexual encounter on her mobile phone, saying she could be ‘trusted’, according to The Courier Mail.

Staggs alleges Robinson, who describes herself as a ‘holistic wellness coach,’ repeatedly called and messaged him following their rendezvous.

She allegedly also asked the NRL star if he would have a threesome with her and a friend.

Staggs is believed to have asked Robinson to stop contacting him weeks before the video was released.

He made a complaint to police after the video surfaced, allegedly it was released without his consent.

Police reportedly searched Robinson’s Newstead home on Tuesday before charging her.

She will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court in September over allegations she leaked the sex tape.

The 18-year-old has shared several scantily-clad photos of herself on social media, where she writes that she is ‘dedicated to empowerment and love’.

‘I am a (sic) empath and have a huge high energy connection to the universe through crystals, meditation, aromatherapy and oracle readings,’ a post on her Instagram reads.

Staggs’ lawyer Dave Garratt told the Courier Mail his client praised Queensland Police for their handling of the mater.

‘Mr Staggs is extremely embarrassed and disappointed that his private life has been brought into the public domain,’ Mr Garratt said.

‘It has caused embarrassment to him, his family and the club and he is hoping to put this behind him now and leave it with the authorities.’

The Brisbane Broncos confirmed on Tuesday afternoon they were aware of the footage.

‘The video is of a highly personal nature and has been released without his consent,’ the club said in a statement.

The non-consensual sharing of personal images online is a criminal offence in Australia and is considered image-based sexual abuse.

The revelations come as the Broncos prepare to face South Sydney in a grudge match at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Friday night.

Staggs returned to the field last month after recovering from a hamstring injury, scoring two tries and starring in his team’s narrow defeat to the Cronulla Sharks.

On July 17, Staggs wrote on Instagram: ‘Rehab is a Challenge every day. Can’t wait to be back with the brothers.’
