  • The ex-wife of an NRL player has been charged with distributing revenge porn
  • She is accused of sending around explicit videos of the player with his partner
  • He was contacted by his ex who allegedly threatened to release the material
  • Police have charged the woman with distributing and recording the content

The ex-wife of an NRL star has been charged with distributing revenge porn after she allegedly recorded explicit photos and videos of the player and his new girlfriend having sex before sending it to at least one person, a court has heard.

The woman was allegedly alerted to the explicit material by a friend of their child in October after they discovered the content while playing on the family iPad.

The explicit videos were recorded on the NRL player’s device but inadvertently uploaded to a joint cloud account shared with his ex-wife when they were married.

The woman faced a Sydney court this week where the court heard she was irate about the pornographic material and contacted her ex-husband to complain about the ‘disgusting’ content, as the iPad was used by her kids.

The woman, her NRL husband and his new partner cannot be identified due to new laws protecting alleged victims of revenge porn.

She then allegedly threatened the footy player – who has represented his country on the world NRL stage – that she would send out the videos and images, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The court heard the woman then ‘intentionally’ sent a snippet of the video to someone else on October 17 after allegedly recording videos and images of the player and his new girlfriend having sex.

Her ex-husband then filed a complaint with police, who executed a search warrant on the woman’s home on October 21.

The court heard detectives looked through the devices at her home and found she had allegedly sent a message to a third party with an ‘excerpt’ of the content.

Officers allege she also distributed an image of her ex-husband and his new partner on October 17.

The woman is facing one charge of intentionally distributing an intimate image without consent and another of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent.

Prosecutors dropped a single charge of distributing content at a court hearing in November however she still faces up to three years in prison and an $11,000 fine for the remaining two charges.

She has pleaded not guilty.

The woman will allege in court she only texted some of the explicit material to the parent of the child who discovered the photos and videos to try and explain the situation.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the woman’s lawyer, Christopher Cole, for comment.
