NSW mother wins trip to Los Angeles to see P!nk in concert

A mother-of-two will be jetting to Los Angeles next year to see her idol P!nk in concert after winning a trip of a lifetime.

Manda Dyer, from Vincentia, NSW, got the official call that she won the Today show’s ‘P!nk’s biggest fan’ competition on Monday morning.

The prize includes a return trip for two to LA, plus tickets to see P!nk in concert and $3,000 spending money.

Entering a photo of her beloved P!nk tribute car as proof of her dedication, the 40-year-old told Daily Mail Australia, that winning the contest had left her ”gobsmacked”.

‘I was absolutely surprised and gobsmacked and very, very grateful,’ she said.

The incredibly dedicated P!nk fan, who is mum to Harmony, 13, and Taryn, 10, said the family had experienced a tough 10 years. She added that the win was proof ‘dreams do come true’.

Manda shared that not long after her husband and her married, he suffered from kidney failure and needed dialysis for a decade.

She said it was difficult juggling her husband’s illness and the demands of raising two daughters, who were three and under one at the time.

While her husband had a kidney transplant last year, which eased the pressure, Manda revealed that she turned to the star’s music many times to help her through her own dark moments.

‘The reason I listen to P!nk is because her music is so inspirational,’ she said.

‘I have suffered major depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress syndrome since I was a kid, which has been pretty tough.

‘Her music has pulled me out of really deep depression and times when I was suicidal.

‘It’s not just the fact she’s a strong woman, it’s the fact that her music itself is so relatable to me.

‘It’s helped me, and it still does. If I have a bad day, I just put my headphones in and get lost in the music.

As well as her customised P!nk car, which is airbrushed with images of her idol, Manda’s sports her own version of P!nk’s punky look, and a special tattoo across her back which pays tribute to one of the star’s hits.

‘My favourite song of P!nk’s is The Great Escape – it’s one I go to when I am feeling quite low and depressed and that picks me up a bit.’

Another favourite, she said is Who Knew – the title which has tattooed on her back with P!nk’s eyes, in memory of her grandmother.

While Manda has already seen P!nk live a number of times, Next year she will see her perform three times: once in Sydney, once in New Zealand and also in LA, her dream, she said is to meet the star in person.

‘I have got my wrist waiting for P!nk’s autograph one day, which I am hoping to get tattooed as well.’

As far as the all-important decision of who will travel with her to see the superstar in the States, Manda said she’s not too sure who it will be.

‘Both girls are eager, so they’re fighting over it.’

‘We’ll just have to wait and see.’
