A 29-year-old man has died after falling from a cliff while hiking in the Northern Territory’s Kakadu National Park.

Ambulance officers said the hiker had ‘slipped and fallen off cliff’ on Monday afternoon, with police and Kakadu Park Rangers taking part in a desperate search.

His body was found on Tuesday morning with police now preparing a report for the coroner.

A triple-zero call was received at 5.30pm on Monday to report a hiker who fell off a cliff just kilometres from a mine. 

Craig Garraway, St John Ambulance NT duty manager, told NT News: ‘He appears to have slipped and fallen off a cliff of some sort.’

The man had ‘fallen quite a distance’, he said.
