Nursing home worker is accused of tying a resident, 73, to a chair using plastic bags at an aged care centre

  • A 73-year-old woman alleges she was tied to a chair while being showered 
  • Police allege a plastic bag was used to restrain the woman, causing bruising  
  • The aged care worker has been stood down while investigations continue

An aged care worker has been stood down after allegedly tying a 73-year-old woman to a chair at a Sydney nursing home.

The resident told police a plastic bag was allegedly used to tie her leg to a chair when she was being showered at the facility in the city’s Eastern Suburbs on Tuesday.

The woman told police it had caused severe bruising and pain.

An aged care worker has been stood down after allegedly tying a 73-year-old woman to a chair at a Sydney nursing home (stock image) 

A 67-year-old nursing home assistant was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The resident also took out an  apprehended violence order against the former aged care worker. 

The woman was stood down by her employer and will face Waverley Local Court on Thursday 9 January 2020.
