Obese divorcee loses a stone in 28 days on Chloe Madeley’s £275 diet

Her eating and fitness plan is one of the most popular diets around, but is it worth the money?

Chloe Madeley’s Fat Loss Blitz was put to the test by 36-year-old civil servant Dev, from Basildon, in tonight’s Save Money, Lose Weight.

At 17st 2lb, Dev has a body mass index (BMI) of 37.6 and is considered obese. But after learning he was at a pre-diabetic stage during a recent blood test, he is determined to shift some pounds.

Divorcee Dev opts to try the vegetarian version of Chloe’s Fat Loss Blitz, which costs him £275 for 28 days. Dev will have to prepare his meals following the eating plan’s strict recommendations.

Dev puts the diet to the test for the ITV show, which compares popular diets to see if the lost pounds in weight are worth the pounds in cash.

Chloe’s diet combines fitness exercises for all levels as well as a healthy meal plan. The diet itself ditches some carbs in favour of protein-filled dishes in order to generate appropriate energy levels for training.

On top of the meal plan, Dev has to head to the gym four to six times a week for 40 to 60 minutes of low to moderate exercise in order to see some results.

He follows the ‘seven treat’ plan, which is designed for people who aren’t in great physical shape.

Dev says he’s been chubby since his childhood and was even bullied for his size as a kid. But he just can’t resist a snack in front of the telly – and his recent divorce saw his bad eating habits get worse.

For 28 days, Dev takes on the Fat Loss Blitz diet, which states that men should be eating three low-carb, high protein meals as well as two snacks a day.

‘I’d love to gain some self-confidence and lose weight, maybe look for the love of my life,’ Dev says playfully at the beginning of the diet.

And he gets off to a great start. Throughout his diet Dev prepares the meals recommended by the eating plan every evening before bed.

Some of the meals include low-calorie quorn burgers, spicy beef tacos and breakfasts consisting of oats, protein powder and peanut butter.

For the 10 first days, Dev manages to stay away from fattening food and snacks and stick to his diet and exercise regime.

‘Rather than thinking about what others are going to think about me, I’m just concerned on burning my calories,’ he says.

However, after a stressful day at work, Dev struggles to banish his thoughts of naughty food.

‘There were moments this evening where I could have just decided, “Ok, forget about the diet”,’ he admitted.

But Dev soldiered on and managed to make it through 28 days of dieting.

At the end, it’s time for Dev to weigh himself – and he discovers his efforts have paid off.

Dev weighs 15st 13lbs after the month spent dieting, having managed to shed 1st 3lbs.

Pleased with his results, Dev says he did not expect to ‘lose this much weight’.

But it came at a cost; the show found that according to the money he spent and the weight he lost, Dev spent £16.20 per lost pound.

Save Money Lose Weight airs on ITV on Tuesdays at 7:30pm.
