Off-duty FBI agent’s gun injures one after firing during dance floor backflip

Terrified witnesses have revealed a man shot inside a Colorado nightclub was completely ‘covered in blood’ after an off-duty FBI agent accidentally fired his gun on the dance floor – but the man responsible didn’t offer any help to the victim.

Footage of the ordeal showed the FBI agent’s gun falling from his waistband and onto the floor as he did a backflip in front of a crowd at the Denver club late Saturday night.

The gun fired when the agent went to quickly pick it back up and it shot another clubgoer in the lower leg.

Bystanders who rushed to help the injured man say the agent didn’t follow up with the victim or help render first aid.

The cellphone footage of the incident shows the agent holstering his gun, raising his hands in the air and walking away.

Heather Schiraldi and her fiance David Laferriere were two of the people to help treat the injured man, according to Denver7.

They said at the time they were 90 percent sure the loud pop they heard was a gunshot and immediately thought there might have been an active shooter.

Laferriere said he made eye contact with the victim but didn’t immediately know that he had been shot.

‘We didn’t hear anything more, so we assumed it wasn’t a gunshot until the victim grabbed his upper thigh and started screaming, ‘Someone call 911′,’ he said.

Schiraldi added: ‘I thought my fiance had been shot so I was panicking. When I realized it wasn’t him, I was still panicking, because there was a man covered in blood over there.’

Their quick-thinking friend tied his belt around the victim’s leg in a bid to stop the profuse bleeding.

The couple said they had no idea the bullet had come from an agent’s gun until much later when the footage of the incident surfaced.

‘We were here all night… until the whole situation was taken care of. As far as I’m concerned, (the agent) made no effort, whatsoever, to take care of the victim, even though he was probably the best trained of anyone there to take care of the victim,’ Laferriere said.

Schiraldi said after she viewed the video she was fuming.

‘I was very angry. It was like, what was this FBI agent doing?’ she said.

‘Why are you doing a backflip?… I think that’s everyone’s reaction. I was just angry because I didn’t see him at all after that. He didn’t help the victim.’

The victim is now recovering in hospital from non-life-threatening injuries.

The agent was taken to police headquarters for questioning and then released to an FBI supervisor.

Denver Police said Monday they were awaiting lab results to see if alcohol was a factor.

Prosecutors will determine whether the agent will face any charges as a result of the shooting.

His name has not been released and the Denver FBI declined to comment.
