Old footage of Wayne Carey on a dating show 33 years ago resurfaces where he ‘predicted his future’

Footage of AFL legend Wayne Carey on dating show Perfect Match over 30 years ago resurfaces online – and fans say he ‘predicted his future’ of criminal allegations during the episode

Vintage footage of football legend Wayne Carey has resurfaced, and some fans are saying that he predicted his own future.

Thirty-three years ago, when the AFL legend was 18 years old, he appeared on a dating show called Perfect Match.

The ‘blind date’ format of the show saw a young woman ask three different men various questions, and then ask out her favourite one based on his answers.

A young Carey was ‘gentleman number two’ on the show, and was asked by a blonde beauty: ‘If I saw your photo on the front page of a newspaper, what would the headline be?’

Trying to crack a joke, the young North Melbourne player replied: ‘Probably found guilty of all charges.’

Speaking earlier this week on The Truth Hurts podcast, Carey spoke about his appearance on the dating show, saying he has ‘no idea’ why he gave that answer, but even so he still managed to bag the date.

‘That answer, I think it is online saying I was predicting my future,’ he said.

‘Now, why would I come up with an answer like that, I am not sure. I will say this, I got the date.

‘I got no matches, but she picked me because apparently her mum was in the crowd saying ‘pick number 2″.’

After the young lady picked Carey for the date back in 1990, they got to ride a limousine together and have a fancy diner at a French restaurant.

Many internet users have shared the footage of the AFL great online, saying he was ‘predicting his future’.

This is not only because he has made headlines for his sporting achievements, but he has also been involved with criminal allegations.

He has a history of bad behaviour, including attacking police and in 2007 infamously tossing wine in his then girlfriend Kate Neilson’s face and glassing her.
