Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester Utd can still attract players ahead of January window

‘I’m sure there are many players who want to be part of our rebuild’: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United can still attract big names in the transfer market

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident the club can still attract big-name players despite their dwindling position in the Premier League.

United failed to secure Champions League football last season and are currently five points behind Chelsea in fourth.

While Solskjaer can admit the club are not the force they once were, he insists United still have significant pulling power in the transfer market.

‘Agents might not want them to, but players will want to come here,’ the United boss said on Wednesday.

‘I don’t speak to too many agents. United are the biggest and best in the world and I’m sure there’s so many players in the world who want to be part of the rebuild.

‘Our players and fans enjoy our football and opposition players will like to be part of it as well.’

Solskjaer has plans to strengthen his squad in January but it remains to be seen if he will be provided with the funds to invest.

Ivan Rakitic was one name being linked with a move to Old Trafford but reports in Spain claim the midfielder will now not be sold next month.

Salzburg striker Erling Braut Haaland is being tracked by United but it is unlikely he will join anytime before next summer.
