Loughlin and Giannulli both pleaded not guilty to fraud charges after prosecutors accused them of paying $500,000 to get their daughters into University of Southern California under false pretenses by claiming they were rowing recruits.
Fifty parents were indicted in the scandal and many, including fellow actress Felicity Huffman, have pleaded guilty. Loughlin and Giannulli’s decision to fight the charges in court could put them behind bars for years if they are convicted.
Olivia Jade and her sister Bella have both kept a low profile in the wake of the scandal, but many reports about how they’re dealing with the fallout have emerged since, citing close sources.
Many of those reports detailed strife within the family, including claims that Jade blames her parents for the scandal, which resulted in her losing brand sponsorships.
In May, it was reported that the Instagram influencer had ‘barely spoken’ to either of them for months, with several media outlets suggesting that she had been staying with friends while she looked for her own permanent residence away from her parents’ sprawling Bel Air home.
Olivia Jade’s decision to withdraw from social media was also a clear indication of her desire to take a step away from the scandal and her involvement in it.
She first broke her silence two weeks ago when she posted a childhood photo with her mom on Instagram in honor of Loughlin’s birthday.
