‘I can’t explain how I feel’: Olympic champion Grant Hackett and fiancée Sharlene Fletcher welcome baby boy – after announcing engagement
Grant Hackett and fiancée Sharlene Fletcher welcomed their baby boy on Saturday.
Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, the Olympic swimming champion, 39, revealed that Sharlene gave birth to their first child together at 9.38am, weighing 3.4kg.
‘I can’t explain how I feel. It’s the most amazing experience and I’m just grateful everyone is healthy and recovering well,’ Grant told the publication.

He continued: ‘I’m very protective so I just wanted to make sure they were both OK.
‘Everything went very well with no complications. Sharlene is a bit tired but completely overjoyed with love. Her heart is even more full.’
On Thursday, Sharlene revealed she was counting down the days until the birth.

Taking to Instagram, she joked: ‘Bump update- 38 weeks, 5 days! We can’t wait to meet you gorgeous boy!’
The brunette also flaunted her burgeoning bump in a figure-hugging black dress.
Grant has two other children, twins Charlize Alley and Jagger Emilio, 11, from his previous relationship with Neighbours star, Candice Alley.

In October, Grant and Sharlene announced their engagement.
‘So happy and excited to call this beautiful, amazing, kind and supportive soul my fiancée,’ wrote Grant to his Instagram followers.
‘Life has certainly had its moments where your spirit is tested to its full will.
‘However, I have to say, sharing and creating life with [Sharlene] has brought so much happiness and fun!
‘Thank you [Sharlene] for loving all of me. Can’t wait to introduce our baby boy to the world on Australia Day too.’
