Olympic gold medalist Libby Trickett has given birth to her third child.

But it wasn’t the easiest birth for the athlete, who admitted their little one came ‘two weeks early’ via a surprise c-section.

Baby joy! Libby Trickett, 34, confirmed on Instagram that she and husband Luke had welcomed another gorgeous daughter – naming her Bronte Rose Trickett

‘Luke and I are so thrilled to announce that our third little girl, Bronte Rose Trickett arrived into the world (a couple of weeks early – just like her big sisters!) on the 7th of November at 4.22am via a surprise c-section,’ she said.

‘It came after an eventful induction which included her spinning into breech, a successful ECV, but Bronte wanting to high five our OB on the way out!’

The pair already share two daughters – Poppy, four, and Edwina, one.

All over: At 28 years of age, Libby - who was once the fastest female swimmer in the world - was forced to retire after an injury.

She continued: ‘Little B weighed 3.7kg and is 54.5cm long. We can’t believe how lucky and blessed we are to have brought another gorgeous little girl into our lives!

‘Still slightly in shock as I was so sure it was a boy in there but as soon as she came out, we knew our little family was complete.

‘We are so in love, Poppy is a ridiculously excited big sister and Eddie is still trying to understand what is going on x.’

In May, Libby revealed she was expecting her third child just a year after the birth of her second daughter.

Libby, who was once the fastest female swimmer in the world, was forced to give up on her swimming career at just 28 due to injury.

She wrote about her struggle during her memoir, named Beneath The Surface, admitting the future was ‘dark’ at the time, but has since moved on to become a devoted mother, TV personality and author.
