An on-call flight attendant has offered a look at her typical morning routine – including 3am wakeups, piping hot showers and sunrise flights.

Shani Turner, from Melbourne, needs to look polished whatever time of day or night she is working, and so relies on a combination of good skincare, a simple makeup routine and piping hot showers to stay looking and feeling her best.

‘Good morning, today I’m going to work to do a Hobart return flight, so this is my typical morning routine,’ Shani posted on her TikTok page.

On any given day when she starts at 5am, Shani said she gets up at 3am to have a hot shower and do her skincare before heading to the airport.

‘Skincare is super important to me,’ Shani said, as she washed her face with a foaming cleanser and started to apply serums and moisturisers.

Shani hardly wears any makeup to work, and just applies a layer of mascara to ensure her lashes look done and then brushes her brows to make sure they look polished.

‘Next I do my hair and pop some hairspray in,’ Shani said.

‘Freshly-washed hair is the hardest thing to get back into a ponytail or bun. I use my slicker brush to get all the flyaways, and then pop it into a bun. Done!’

Following this, Shani gets dressed into her uniform, grabs a cup of coffee from her machine at home and eats a quick slice of toast with Vegemite before leaving for work.

‘I don’t usually eat breakfast, because it’s literally the middle of the night, but I needed it this morning,’ the flight attendant said.

She then heads to the airport and is on board by the time the sun rises.

Speaking to Nine, Shani revealed what the rest of the day looks like once she has finished a shift.

‘I usually finish work at around 2-3pm, I go home and get dinner sorted for when my fiancé gets home so we can have dinner together, and I start winding down at about 6:30-7pm,’ she told the publication.

‘I’m usually jumping into bed at about 7:30pm, so I can wind down fully with my love, we chat and share our stories from the day.’

Shani said the difficult part of her job is the shift lifestyle, which can make it hard for her to spend time with the people she loves.

‘Spending quality time can be really hard, so we make the most of it when we can,’ she said.

Shani religiously avoids any screen-time some 30 minutes before going to sleep, and swears by blackout blinds for keeping her asleep whatever time of day it is.
