One dead and another critically injured after crane topples powerline in Queensland

One worker has been killed and two others are in hospital after a crane toppled a powerline in Far North Queensland. 

The fatal incident took place on Irvin Access Rd in Little Mulgrave, 37km south of Cairns, around 9am on Sunday.

One man died after suffering significant burns to his body, while two men, aged 54 and 63, were taken to hospital. 

The 63-year-old was admitted with serious burns, and the other man for emotional distress, according to The ABC. 

Paramedics were called to the scene after receiving reports a crane hit powerlines in Little Mulgrave, south of Cairns on Sunday morning 

They are both in stable condition, a hospital spokesperson said.  

The crane had been operating at a work site for a MSF Sugar’s Mulgrave Mill.

Queensland Police are on the scene and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating the incident.
