One person was shot dead and six others were wounded during a birthday party at a dance studio in North Carolina early Sunday morning, authorities have said.
The shooting took place at around 2:45am at the Sanford Latin Dance Studio in Sanford, North Carolina.
The incident appeared to stem from a fight that escalated, authorities told WTVD-TV.
The fatality was identified as Travis Jamarian McLean, a 27-year-old resident of Sanford
He was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at 2:17am
Emergency services identified seven gunshot victims who were transported to Central Carolina Hospital.
One of the victims died of gunshot wounds.

Malika Tyshae Harris, 25, was also wounded in the shooting. She was shot in the right leg

Police also released the names of the other gunshot victims.
They have been identified as Malika Tyshae Harris, 25; Savon Khalili Rollins, 24; Joseph James Roscoe, 24; Travis Maurice McLaughlin, 30; Tasha Tejuana McDonald, 41; and Dominique Devonn Williams, 20.
Harris was shot in the right leg.
Rollins suffered a gunshot wound in one of his hands.
Roscoe was shot in the foot.
McLaughlin was shot in the arm.

So far, authorities have not named a suspect.
