One dead and nine injured after ‘two knifemen’ rampage through French city of Lyon – as police arrest man while officers hunt second

One person has died and nine others have been left injured after a stabbing spree in the French city of Lyon this afternoon.
Two knifemen went on a rampage near the Laurent-Bonnevay metro station in the Villeurbanne region, to the east of the city, according to local reports.
Of those injured three are believed to have been seriously wounded, while six more have suffered minor injuries.
Police are believed to have arrested one man and are hunting another who managed to flee from the scene.

Officers, who are yet to confirm the nature of the attack, have sealed off roads near the scene and have asked the public to avoid the area as it is an active crime scene.
Video shared on Twitter appeared to show one of the suspects being held by passers-by.
An AFP journalist at the scene witnessed a body being taken away in an ambulance and traces of blood on the ground.
The city’s Metro A train network shut down in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
