One-year-old boy fights for life after being pulled unconscious from a locked car parked outside a pokies room as temperature nears 40C

A one-year-old baby is fighting for life after it was found unconscious in a car parked outside a hotel with a pokies room.

The baby was found unresponsive about 3pm on Wednesday in the locked car, which was parked outside The Brook Point Cook, in Melbourne’s south-west.

The temperature inside the car is believed to have reached close to 40C while the boy was still inside.

He was rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a critical condition and is now fighting for his life, Victoria Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia.

It is not yet known where the child’s parents or guardians were while he locked in the car alone.

A crime scene has been set up and police remain on the scene investigating the incident.
