1. Clean everything out

The first thing Chantel said you absolutely must do for an organised pantry is clean everything out of your cupboard and throw away anything that is no longer within date or hasn’t been eaten.

‘Wipe down the shelves carefully,’ Chantel said.

You should especially focus on the corners where dirt might have got in and use a disinfectant spray to protect the area from dirt and grime.

2. Look at what items you have and label

‘My containers and labels are from Pretty Little Designs,’ Chantel said.

‘They’re so good. Opt for quality as the cheaper ones often aren’t as good or as airtight.’

Chantel also said she tapes expiry stickers and nutritional labels to the bottom of each label so she can keep track of when her food expires.

Many labelled this tip for storing dried foods as ‘genius’, as it can be easy to forget how old they are.

4. Consistency is important

When you are looking for containers to store your sugar, flour, cereal and pasta, Chantel explained that clear is always best.

Not only does this mean that you can see what you are looking for without having to open every single container, but it also looks pretty in your pantry.

‘Consistency is important,’ she said.

‘Choose clear, airtight containers that can be stacked to save space.’

This also looks good in a pantry and means everything is displayed without looking messy.
