Original Gerber baby, 91, meets the newest spokesbaby in an adorable photo

The woman whose face became synonymous with Gerber baby food posed for an adorable photo with the first brand baby to have Down syndrome. 

Ann Turner Cook, 91, can be seen smiling as she hold one-year-old Lucas Warren at her home in Tampa, Florida, last week. 

Cook lives in Tampa after retiring from years as an English teacher and mystery novelist.

The ‘life-changing’ meeting was made possible by Gerber since the infant’s family was in the area enjoying a vacation.

‘As soon as we walked into the room, (Cook) and Lucas immediately bonded,’ parents Cortney and Jason said in a statement to Today.com.

‘Lucas walked right up to her, flashing his signature smile and waving, and we could tell he loved her right away.’

Lucas was said to have then grabbed two cookies and offered one to the woman. 

‘My grandmother was the Gerber baby. It was a funny bit of trivia, never made her rich or got us free strained peas or anything, grandson Chris Colin said on Twitter.

‘But last week she got to meet the company’s newest spokesbaby, named Lucas. Pretty pretttty cute.’

Dorothy Hope Smith, a family friend of Cook, sketched the portrait of the woman as an infant and submitted it to Gerber in 1928.  

The company had been looking for a face for the company and was so infatuated with the portrait of Cook that they they trademarked it in 1931.
