Outrage on P&O ship as supplies of beer and wine come close to running out

No booze cruise! Outrage on P&O ship from Australia to Singapore as supplies of beer and wine come close to running out – and there’s still five days left of the trip

  • Outraged passengers have slammed cruise ship for running out of wine and beer
  • News of the ‘no booze’ bar came after a passenger sent out an SOS on Saturday
  • The passenger said the ship has almost run out of wine and low, mid and tap beer
  • P&O spokeswoman said other alcohol was available and the ship had restocked

Outraged passengers on a cruise bound for Singapore have been told the ship’s supply of beer and wine are running out – despite being five days away from port.

One thirsty passenger aboard P&O’s Pacific Jewel sent out an SOS on Saturday after she was told the vessel’s alcohol supply had all-but run dry, The West reported.

‘As well as low, mid and tap beer running out already, we have been advised by wait staff that all beer will be out of stock completely in 24 to 48 hours,’ the woman said.

The passenger said many of the ship’s passengers were angry at the ship’s low stock, given that there was still five more days before it would reach its final destination.

She said in addition to beer supplies running dry, the ship’s wine barrels were all about empty, which meant alcohol packages were also unable to be fulfilled.

‘There are a huge amount of disgruntled passengers,’ she said.

Drinks packages are a premium service on all P&O Cruises’ ships that’s popular among thirsty travellers, who pay top dollar to drink themselves silly.

Passengers can pay up to $105 a day for ‘The Lot’ Beverage Package, which entitles them to bottomless beer, wine, spirits and cocktails, P&O’s website states.

While there is reportedly some beer and wine still on board, the ship’s top shelf and premium products are said to have completely run out.

The cruise, which left the Western Australian port of Fremantle on March 1, isn’t due to reach its destination port in Singapore until Tuesday.

A P&O spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the situation is not as dire as first made out to be.

‘While we are disappointed that the usual selection of beer and wine brands is not available on this voyage, others are on offer to guests,’ the spokeswoman said.

The ship was also restocked on Saturday and is now continuing on to several Malaysian ports before finishing in Singapore.

‘We also took on supplies today at a scheduled call en route to Singapore and our guests are continuing to toast the ship’s final voyage!’
