P-plater stopped by elderly woman in Tasmania

A Domino’s delivery driver who was stopped by an elderly woman in the middle of the road feared he was about to become the subject of a road rage attack.

But Josh Reeve, 20, from Tasmania, was refreshingly surprised when the woman praised him for driving safely.

The P-plater, who drove a 1993 Toyota Camry, revealed he initially thought the old lady had other ideas.

‘I thought I was going to get road rage attacked, I was very relieved she was commending me and not going to hit me,’ Mr Reeve told 3AW on Wednesday.

Mr Reeve did admit it probably wasn’t the idea for the woman to stop at the entrance to a busy freeway.

‘It was really sweet of her, maybe not the best time in the world to do it,’ Mr Reeve said.

‘Maybe not in the middle of an intersection.’

The bizarre incident occurred on Saturday in Tasmania. It was captured by Josh on his dash cam and uploaded to the Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia.

The video shows the elderly woman stopping at the entrance to a freeway in her Toyota Corolla.

She then puts the handbrake on and proceeds to get out of her car.

Mr Reeve is sitting in his car with the music blaring as she walks towards him.

He turns down the music, opens his window and ask the woman: ‘Is everything okay?’

‘I want to commend you for the way you are driving,’ the woman says to Josh in the video.

‘I see you’re on P-plates and you’re not driving liked a bloody hoon… good on you.’

‘Because there are so many morons… either drunk or on drugs or off their face.’

Mr Reeve thanks the woman for her praise, before she makes her way back to her car.

The video has attracted a number of comments, and ironically many Facebook users say the woman was driving dangerously herself.

‘Wow, let’s commend the young man on his driving, while parking in the middle of the road and blocking traffic… Genius! Do you think she sees the irony here?,’ commented one person.
