Pakistan needed just 16 balls on the final morning to beat Sri Lanka by 263 runs and complete their first Test series victory on home soil for 13 years.

Sixteen-year-old Naseem Shah became the second youngest player to take a five-wicket haul as the tourists, chasing 476, were dismissed for 212 in the second Test.

Starting the day 212 for seven, Sri Lanka lost their last three wickets without adding to their overnight total.

It was the first time Pakistan, having relocated to the United Arab Emirates due to safety issues, won a Test series in their own country since beating West Indies in 2006.

Sri Lanka were the first tourists to visit Pakistan for a Test series since an attack on their team bus in Lahore in March 2009 killed eight people and left several players injured.

The attack, by 12 gunmen, forced that Test to be abandoned and began an exile which had lasted over 10 years, with Pakistan playing the majority of their home Test matches in the UAE.

In September, Sri Lanka played three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches in Pakistan, but this was their first home Test series in over a decade.

The first Test, played in Rawalpindi, finished in a rain-affected draw.
