A quick-thinking paramedic has told of how she came to the rescue of a motorcyclist who was catapulted from his bike and run over.

Dashcam footage captured the moment the motorbike rider slammed into the back of traffic causing him to fly into the air before ending up underneath the car.

NSW Ambulance paramedic Katrisse Patterson was nearby in her vehicle when she heard the massive collision in Liverpool, Sydney’s southwest, on May 31.

‘When I looked around I saw the motorcyclist on the road behind us,’ Ms Patterson said.

‘I was worried he might be badly injured, so I called for a back-up road crew immediately, then I jumped out and went to assess him.’

She said her partner who was in the car with her, also got out to assist until another ambulance arrived.

‘We had a nurse on board who remained with our patient while we performed our assessments on the motorcyclist,’ Ms Patterson said.

‘It’s not often that we are immediately on scene like that, without prior notice.

‘Thankfully the patient’s injuries, while painful, weren’t life-threatening.

‘When I look at the footage, I’m amazed his injuries weren’t a lot worse.’

Dashcam footage of the incident showed the rider didn’t brake when the cars in front abruptly slowed, riding straight into the rear of the vehicle he was following.

He was flung through the air and landed heavily on the road.

It appeared the rider was attempting to stand up and walk away from the incident until a garbage truck that was following hit a stationary car causing it to roll forward, running him over.

Stunned bystanders then proceeded to get out of their cars to check on the condition of the rider.

The incredible footage was viewed by tens of thousands of people in a few hours after being uploaded to the YouTube channel, Dash Cam Owners of Australia.

The incident happened more than a month ago, but the channel said it waited to post the footage until they knew the rider was not seriously injured.

A spokesman for NSW Ambulance said the rider suffered minor fractures and was discharged after two nights in hospital.
