Three paramedics have been forced to locked themselves in a house in Ambervale after being attacked by the man they’d been sent to help.

Andrew Holmes, 26, allegedly fell unconscious after drinking too much, but then became violent after waking up in the early hours on Monday morning.

It is alleged that he threw one paramedic across the room, elbowed another one in the chest and then attacked the third.

After the alleged assault, the three joined together to barricade themselves in the house and searched for weapons with which to defend themselves.

One of the paramedics told Nine News that it was the worst thing she’d ever experienced in 31 years on the job.

Holmes reportedly did not attempt to re-enter the house, but did punch the back of a ambulance and smashed the window.
