The historic Western town area at Paramount Ranch where many productions were filmed has been destroyed by wildfires in Northern California.

Series such as ‘Westworld’ use the Western town set to shoot its Main Street scenes. 

The HBO series is also shot at the Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, Utah and other locations.

‘We are sorry to share the news that the #WoolseyFire has burned Western Town at #ParamountRanch in Agoura,’ the official Twitter account for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area tweeted Friday. 

‘We do not have any details or photos, but it is our understanding that the structures have burned. This area is an active part of the incident and we cannot access it’.  

Now part of the National Park Service and open to the public, the ranch has been the site of numerous productions throughout the years and was first started by Paramount Pictures in 1927.

Among the films that shot at the ranch were Caught in the Draft with Bob Hope, The Lake House with Sandra Bullock, and TV shows including The Mentalist, Weeds and Quickdraw. 

Dr Quinn Medicine Woman was also shot there from 1992 to 1997. 

Before the area was a public park, it was used for car racing in the 1950s as the Paramount Raceway which was portrayed in the film The Devil’s Hairpin.

A spokesperson for HBO told The Wrap  that Westworld has used the Paramount Ranch location for Main Street, but the Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy sci-fi series also films at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita.

HBO told The Wrap that no cast or crew was at the Paramount Ranch location when it burned down.

A slew of wildfires hit Southern California on Friday morning, including the Woolsey fire, which forced the evacuation of the city of Malibu. The blaze also threatens the communities of Calabasas and Woodland Hills.
