I’m not sure if this is the right place to be asking, but I’m posting this advert because my husband and I are looking for someone to work as a personal trainer for our two children who are six and ten.
We know that this is a bit of a weird request, but we’ve had no luck at our local gyms over the last few months, because apparently the kids need to be 15 or over to go, and we need someone to help out as soon as possible.
I know there will be parents out there who don’t think we should be making sure our children work out at such an early age, but both myself and my husband had a bad time growing up because of our weight, both in and out of school. It wasn’t until our late twenties that we began to exercise and actually feel confident in ourselves and comfortable in our own bodies. At secondary school in particular I had a tough time with bullying and depression which are things we never want our children to go through.
Our son is 11 and going to secondary school in September, so we want someone to ideally start immediately to help him gain some confidence over the summer. He’s already experienced some bullying at primary school and we just don’t want it to carry on into secondary. Seeing your child upset because of other people’s actions is one of the worst things in the world and I wouldn’t wish it on any parent. At the very latest we’d need someone to start before the end of the six weeks summer holidays.
We know that child obesity is an issue which is getting increasingly worse and we just want to give our children the foundation to a happy and healthy life, and we think that giving them an opportunity to train at a young age is the best way to do that.
We’d like to children to do one-hour sessions four times a week, with a mixture of cardio and resistance exercise to be incorporated.
We’re willing to pay around £80 an hour but the right candidate will need to get on well with both ourselves and the children and have a keen understanding of kinesiology and nutrition. We’ll also need them to formulate the children’s diet plan and track their progress. There is wiggle room on the figure as we’re keen to get someone on board sooner rather than later.
Obviously after the summer holidays the kids will be in school until 3:20pm, so your working hours will need to be between 4pm and 9pm. Once we’ve chosen someone we’ll sort specific times and days.
We’re not overly strict on holiday and if you do need to go away we’ll always accommodate for it, all that we ask is that you provide a diet and training plan for whilst you’re away.
As we said we’re keen to get someone in to help asap really, so if you think you can help please get in touch.
