Parents at Queensland Christmas parade find piece of metal inside a Christmas lollipop

Parents are issued with a stark warning as a shard of metal is found inside a lollipop and given to a child at a Christmas parade

  • Metal found in a Christmas lollipop at a parade in South-East Queensland
  • The metal fragment was clearly visible after it was handed out to one resident
  • Parents are urged to check lollipops before their children consume them

A lollipop that was handed out at a Christmas parade was found to contain a shard of sharp metal.

Residents at the Christmas in Cooroy parade in South-East Queensland were shocked by the discovery.

In a post on Facebook, festival organisers said the lollipop had not been tampered with.

The lollipop contained a sharp shard of metal. It is not known who the manufacturer is

‘This is an unbranded lollipop with no labelling so we can’t track the manufacturer. It is likely to be a one off occurrence, however we urge parents to check lollipops just to be safe,’ the post said.

Cooroy residents were quick to comment on the post.

‘Thank goodness we only had small individually wrap(ped) lollies,’ one person wrote.

‘Thanks for the warning. Will check ours,’ another wrote.
