Parents’ fury at fairytale-themed event where the food ran out and children queued for 30 mins

Several parents have taken to social media to slam a children’s festival and describe it as a ‘daylight robbery’.

The Monstrous Festival was held at the Printworks in East London, with single tickets costing between £25 and £32.50.

The inflatable slide festival, which was fairy tale-themed, was criticised for having huge queues, inflatables that were smaller than advertised and a food stall that sold out hours before the afternoon sessions started.

Several parents took to Twitter to complain about the queues and their experience at the Monstrous Festival

Customers also posted photos of what they claimed was a security steward sleeping.

Another point of contention for visitors was the use of The Beast, which is the world’s biggest inflatable slide at nearly 900ft with 30 obstacles.

Because of health and safety rules, the slide it had to be split in two leaving children bitterly disappointed.

Another source of anger was a small white pony which was supposed to represent a much larger unicorn from promotional photos.

The organisers later apologised for the queuing issued but later claimed they had only received 200 official complaints out of the more than 9,000 tickets they had sold.

Belinda Guild took to Twitter to write: ‘Please look into the monstrous festival at Printworks this weekend, it was a disgraceful rip off.

‘Promised fantasy worlds, one called magical funfair town, not a single fun fair ride. Inflatable not outside as pictured but split over two levels, 50min queue each time.’

Many complained that the event was a waste of money and said that it was nothing like they had been promised

Rosina Moghal commented: ‘My daughter was also left in tears after a 40 minute queue for face painting because the lady told her they were only allowed to paint a small flower and she knew no other designs.’

While user @mrsfranc1s wrote: ‘What a disappointment! Nothing like advertised. £90 to play Fifa and stand in queues for half the promised bouncy castle.

‘Never again. Witnessed a fight between parents within the first 30mins. Terrible organisation.’

Lisa Hyam said: ‘Absolutely rip off. Outrageous queues and closing of attraction well before the end time. This cost me over £120 and was in opinion daylight robbery.’

‘As my son’s father put it he spent over £70 for his son to go on The Beast once. Absolute joke, poorly organised disgrace.’

A festival spokesman told MailOnline: ‘First of all we would like to thank all our guests, suppliers and staff who attended Monstrous Festival.

‘This was our first year and whilst we worked hard to ensure the festival was successfully delivered, we did unfortunately have some major issues regarding queuing and the relocation of some of our activity. For that we are sincerely sorry.’
