The child’s mother says the program’s executive director found their son around noon. He was still strapped to his car seat on the bus at a parking lot at a different school about six miles away.

‘The first thing he said was “momma I cried for you, nobody let me off the bus,”‘ said Stephen Ebersold, the boy’s father to Fox25. ‘I don’t know how you could forget him, I can’t see how I would forget him.’

Executive director Karen Ennis says the school is cooperating with the Ebersolds and licensing authorities. Ennis says staff members involved have been removed from duty.

The boy’s parents have said that the the bus driver, the monitor and the teacher involved have now all been fired.

‘It’s kind of nerve-racking to think your child is not going to come home because someone didn’t take the 30 seconds to walk to the end of the bus,’ said Ebersold.

‘What would’ve happened if this had happened on a colder day or in the middle of summer?’

Xavier’s mother says she will now drive her son to school.
