Passengers escape train moments before collision in Poland

  • Bus carrying dozens of passengers got stuck trying to drive through barrier
  • Passengers forced to flee just seconds before a train smashed into the bus
  • Luckily, no-one was hurt in the incident, which happened near Warsaw, Poland

Passengers fled for their lives just seconds before a train carrying hundreds of commuters smashed through their bus after it got stuck on a level crossing.

Incredible footage has emerged of a coach driver attempting to force his vehicle through a barrier despite the warning lights flashing.

The bus, which had up to 40 passengers onboard, manages to sneak under the first barrier just as it is closing but it then becomes stuck as a train, carrying up to 210 people, approaches.

The bus driver chooses to ignore the flashing warning signs at the level crossing and drives the vehicles under the barrier and on to the train tracks

But the bus becomes trapped when the barriers on the other side come down, leaving the bus stranded helplessly in the path of the train

The driver leaves the bus to inspect the situation as the camera switches to show the train just seconds away from what would be a devastating impact.

As the train approaches the driver tries to wave it down in what is ultimately a futile gesture.

Frantic passengers empty off the bus seconds before the train hits.

It crashes into the bus, sending debris flying across the track before it starts to slow down.

TVN Warszawa, a local news network, reported that the bus was on the way to Modlin Airport, 40km from Warsaw in Poland, when the crash took place at around 6pm on September 26.

No-one was injured in the incident.
