Passengers get into a petty row over whether window shade should be open or closed

Window pain… in the neck: Hilariously petty row erupts between passengers as they squabble over shutting window shade and keep opening and closing it

  • Two men argued over whether a shade on a plane window should be left open
  • The passengers exchanged angry words with one complaining it was ‘too bright’
  • One man reached forward and closed the blind of the passenger sitting in front
  • At one point the video showed his own window shade was in the upright position

Two plane passengers got into a petty row over whether a window shade was left open or closed.

The bitter exchange began when one man pulled up the shutter over his window next to him as the aircraft was preparing to land.

But another man sitting behind complained it was ‘too bright’ and reached between the wall and chair in front to pull the shade back down.

The man in front, angrily pulled it back up again, before his rival pushed it shut for a second time. This petty tit-for-tat contained until the pair began to exchange angry words.

Sitting with his hood up, the first man shouted back: ‘Stop, leave it open alright.’ To which the man behind replied: ‘Please can you shut it?’

The man filming the exchange repeatedly pulled down the blind of the man sitting in front, as his fellow passenger repeatedly pulled it back up

The petulant argument was filmed by the man sitting behind and later posted online.

Many airlines insist window shades are closed during take-off and landing.

When a member of the cabin crew came over because the man in front rang the help button, the passenger sitting behind said: ‘It’s OK he has something to say. I want this down.’

While the first passenger was talking to the crew member, the man behind again shut the shade, saying, ‘I want this down’.

He added, ‘I really want it down, it’s too bright’, before the man in front replied, ‘I want this up, leave me alone’.

The second man then said, ‘Sir, I really don’t want it open’, before reaching again to shut the blind.

As he did so the man in front reached back and pushed his hand towards him and stop him getting to the shutter.

At one point a member of the cabin crew came over to speak to both men because the man in front pressed the 'help' button

His adversary replied, ‘don’t touch me, that’s assault’, before again reaching forward to shut the blind in front.

‘Are you serious, are you serious man?’, the passenger sitting in front then said.

At this point in the video, the complaining man’s own window shade can be seen to be in the upward position.

In response to this repeated closing of the blind, the man in front said, ‘I can’t believe what you just did’, and shammed it back open.

When the rear passenger said, ‘do it one more time I dare you’, the man in front placed him arm across the open window to stop any further closure.

At this point the man behind said: ‘Sir, you’re being rude. Sir, please, I’m asking you nicely.’

The video then ended without any closure on how the disagreement was resolved.
