A couple shocked fellow Tube passengers by snogging passionately for three stops – in the middle of the day.

Martin Besserman was travelling on the Central line at around 2pm on Sunday when the couple began kissing at Tottenham Court Road.

They then carried on through Oxford Circus and Bond Street to Marble Arch – with the woman straddling the man.

Mr Besserman, a comedy club host and producer from Camden, north London, said: ‘The pair of them just got on the carriage.

‘He sat down and she wrapped her legs around him and snogged all the way through three stops.

‘There was a poor young girl sitting next to me and she didn’t know where to look. She definitely felt awkward.

‘One of the most interesting things was the reactions of other people. Most people tried to pretend that it wasn’t happening.’

Mr Besserman posted the photo of the incident on Facebook later that day – prompting mixed reactions.

Some posters also highlighted how the couple were technically were breaking Covid rules – as masks are compulsory on public transport.

‘One person joked that it was the remnants of Boris’ party. Another was saying how they were at least covering their faces to prevent Covid,’ Mr Besserman said.

‘One woman did give some moral support though, saying that everyone wants to meet someone to behave like that with.’
