Paul Burrell angers I’m A Celebrity Australia viewers

He has gone through many emotions sharing stories on Princess Diana and taking part in Bushtucker Trials.

But it appears former Royal butler Paul Burrell has created a global divide among viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.

His ‘immoral and exploitative’ anecdotes have sparked anger among British viewers, while many Down Under are still hooked on him, saying they ‘could listen to them for hours’, and can’t get enough of his ‘hilarious’ antics.

After watching the 59-year-old take part in a Bushtucker Trial, one viewer tweeted: ‘This was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!’ while another added: ‘His screams cracked me up felt sorry for him but it made me laugh so hard.’

However, several fans of the show have taken to social media to accuse Burrell of being ‘melodramatic, over-acting and having zero sense of humour’, saying he is ‘living off his association with Princess Di’ with his ‘sick’ stories.

One disgruntled viewer didn’t hold back as he slammed Paul, who served as the Queen footman before becoming Diana’s personal butler.

‘As if he couldn’t cash in on Diana more than he already has, hopefully he loses his passport and he stays there,’ the viewer wrote.

‘Paul Burrell!? Good Lord! He does like to come out with Diana related stuff every now and again to seem relevant!’ another ranted.

Another social media user wrote: ‘Paul Burrell… are you fricken kidding me?? Been cashing in on Diana for 20 yrs now!’

However some have seen the funny side, with many claiming they ‘had never laughed so hard.’

After he entered the South African jungle alongside fellow Brit Vicky Pattison with worms, bugs and yellow slime dropped on him and viewers couldn’t help but swarm to Twitter to offer their opinion on the trial.

One tweeted: ‘This was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!’ while another added: ‘His screams cracked me up felt sorry for him but it made me laugh so hard.’

Another said: ‘#ImACelebrityAU How cute is Paul not wanting to squish the million bugs you’ve stuck in there with him?’

And another tweet read: ‘Omg paul is a hilarious #ImACelebrityAU’ and ‘Paul’s screams are horrific(ly hilarious). #ImACelebrityAU.’

Other viewers felt Paul’s pain and commended him for not quitting and getting through to the finish.

It’s not the first reality show Paul has participated in since Diana’s tragic death in a 1997 car accident in Paris.

He also was a judge on Australian Princess, competed in the UK version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here and made an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

Referencing one of these stints, one fan raged: ‘Good luck with #PaulBurrell Didn’t win anything on IACGMOH UK,’ before adding the hashtag ‘#stillmilkingthedianalink’

Another fan took a swipe at Paul’s continual appearance in the entertainment sphere, sarcastically commenting: ‘Paul Burrell on his 100th reality show since Princess Di died.’

One creative social media user uploaded a poll and asked followers to vote on the length of time it would take for Paul to discuss the princess.

‘Let’s start taking bets now, how long will it take Paul Burrell to drop Diana’s name when he gets to the camp and meets everyone?’ the Twitter user questioned.
