‘I have honestly never witnessed a couple so respectful of one another, so full of love for one another, so eager to show little kindnesses to one another on a daily basis as those two. You can’t be in their company without noticing.

‘We’ve raised two amazing young men, and I couldn’t be more proud of both,’ she continued. ‘And now our family expands again to hold this beautiful light named Erin. I’m honored, excited, thrilled, overcome with joy and gratitude to be here to witness it all.’

Jonathan proposed to Erin with a classic round diamond solitaire on a white gold or platinum band. In the first image posted by his mother, they are holding their hands up in front of a pond.

‘Jonathan is wearing his father’s ring, the one he wore for our entire marriage,’ Porizkova explained. ‘It’s such a bittersweet moment for me. His hand, so much looking like his father’s, is gently overlaid by Erin’s: her tenderness, her care, her love.’

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum concluded her post with her thoughts on love, sharing that she wishes her late husband was still alive to see their son’s milestone.

‘Daring to love is the most courageous act one can ever make. Each person you open your heart to will expand your life in ways unforeseen. Each time you dare to love is taking a road untraveled,’ she wrote.

‘Jonathan and Erin have chosen their path, bringing us along, making us their accomplices and witnesses along the way, expanding our worlds with love, for love, because of love.

‘Ric, my love, how we all wish you were here to celebrate.’

Porizkova has spoken candidly about her grief and anger after Ocasek unexpectedly died of cardiovascular disease while at home recovering from surgery on September 15, 2019.

She was the third of his three wives, and they were estranged and going through a divorce when she found him dead in their Manhattan townhouse. They had been married for 30 years.

She was only 19 when she met The Cars frontman on the set of the music video for the band’s hit ‘Drive’ in 1984. They wed five years later, when she was 24 and he was 45.

During her appearance on The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet podcast earlier this year, she said she never stopped loving Ocasek and ‘couldn’t conceive of a life without him,’ even when they quietly separated in 2017.

‘I kept saying, “Look, you know, I want to be close to you. I want to be able to help you out when you need help. Let’s get apartments next to each other so that the kids don’t have to choose. Let’s still do family vacations, family Christmas, family Easter. Let’s just keep sharing everything,”‘ she recalled.

Porizkova said she only separated from Ocasek because she couldn’t ‘deal with feeling so lonely and undesirable as a woman,’ saying it was making her ‘too sad.’

The day after he died, she learned he had cut her out of his will just weeks before, claiming she had ‘abandoned’ him. He left her without any money to live off of, including her own earnings.

Ocasek’s oldest sons from his first marriage to Constance Campbell, Chris and Adam Otcask (they use the original spelling of the family name), were also left out of his will.

The rocker changed his will three weeks before he died, and Porizkova believes his lawyers were the ones who influenced him to do so. She likes to think ‘he would have fixed it if he had lived.’

She later revealed she had reached a settlement with her late husband’s estate, saying she was to receive what was owed to her per New York state law, which was one-third of Ocasek’s assets.

‘I hope it wasn’t really his choice,’ she said of the will. ‘I hope that he went and did it without actually intending to hurt me, but I don’t know.’

The day before Porizkova announced her son’s engagement, she shared a throwback swimsuit photo of herself from her Costa Rican vacation in July.

The snapshot was taken from behind and shows her looking over her shoulder as she flashes a smile for the camera while modeling a patterned string bikini.

In the caption, she shared ‘some more food for thought’ about the similarities between professional athletes and models.

‘Both start their careers very young. Both make large amounts of money based on their physicality — in direct proportion to the demand — for their service,’ she wrote. ‘Both need to keep themselves in prime physical shape. Both jobs are physically and sometimes emotionally painful.

‘Both careers end when most others just come into their best. Both are a celebration (or objectification) of the human body. Both demand sacrifices in personal lives. Both are used for your entertainment and to sell you products.’

Porizkova has long been battling online trolls who criticize her for posting sultry bikini and lingerie photos because of her age, and she pointed out that there is a clear double standard in both sports and modeling.

‘One highlights mostly men, the other mostly women,’ she explained. ‘And as they start aging out of their careers, if they refuse to give up quite yet — one gets applauded and is seen as heroic, and the other shamed as pathetic.’
