A diner has been banned from a £3 million boutique restaurant after leaving a poor review on Facebook.

Sam Chisnall, 33, from Colchester, was horrified to find the main meals were ‘massively undercooked’ after taking his taking clients out to dinner at the Pavilion restaurant in Essex.

The businessman made a complaint to the manager who agreed to reduce the bill from £220 to £140.

But Sam later decided to air his views on Facebook – only to be sent a direct message telling him he ‘won’t be welcome’ back.

He said: ‘The four of us were just trying to have a good night out and we had some issues with the food and I complained.

‘The manager was very abrupt and confrontational, disrespectful and in general an absolute disgrace.

‘He clenched his fist and told us, after ruining our meal, he will not even take money off our meal that was massively under-cooked.

He received a response from Maciej Andros (pictured above), assistant manager at Elysium, who informed the 33-year-old he was banned from all of the Elysium Group Restaurants

‘I feel so embarrassed after taking a few clients out for something other customers rant about how good it is.

‘I thought they could be at least professional. They were completely unresponsive to our comments.

‘I’m lost for words and completely thrown, I’m sorry to say.’

He left the review on Facebook – moments before the same manager sent him a direct message.

The response, signed off with ‘kind regards’ from Maciej Andros, assistant manager at Elysium, informed Sam that he was banned from all of the Elysium Group Restaurants.

It read: ‘Thank you for your feedback on social media.

‘As a group we obviously cannot exceed your expectations.

The restaurant later claimed that it was Sam's behaviour that led to him landing a lifetime ban from all Elysium Group venues

‘That includes Mimosa, Hudson and Qube.’

However, the restaurant later claimed that it was Sam’s behaviour that led to him landing a lifetime ban from all Elysium Group venues.

Sam said: ‘I did not think we would have such an issue like this when I left.

‘It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review and I always try to tip and give a good review when I have had a good meal, but we were treated terribly.

‘I have been to their restaurants many times and have mostly had good experiences in the past, but I would never go back- even if I weren’t banned.

‘Mr Chisnall has been asked to refrain from visiting any of Elysium Group venues due to his behaviour towards our personnel, something that we have encountered previously as well involving this individual.

‘Our hard-working staff are there to provide the highest standards of service and food to our customers at all times, and on occasions that our offering does not meet with our guests’ expectations, we will seek to remedy this immediately.

‘As such we have taken the highly unusual step of asking Mr Chisnall to refrain from visiting our premises in order to protect the welfare and safety of our personnel which is of paramount importance to us.’
