Payne Haas’ ex-manager claims Broncos star COVERED UP traffic offence as court battle turns nasty

Payne Haas’ ex-manager claims Broncos star COVERED UP a serious traffic offence so club wouldn’t find out as bitter court battle turns nasty

  • Chris Orr alleges his former client didn’t tell Broncos about 2019 police charges
  • Payne Haas was charged with driving without a licence & using his mobile phone
  • Orr also claims the Brisbane prop, 22, owes him $201,200 in commission fees
  • Haas has ended his association with Orr, is now represented by Tyran Smith

The former manager of NRL star Payne Haas has alleged the Broncos forward covered up two significant traffic offences from the club in 2019.

Haas, 22, is currently embroiled in an ugly NSW Supreme Court battle with his ex-agent Chris Orr, who also claims the hulking prop owes him $201,200 in commission fees, according to documents tendered to the court.

Haas denies he owes any money to Orr.

In February, Haas launched civil action against Orr and his business Original Pro Sports Pty Ltd, which trades under the name Pacific Sports Management.

Orr then sensationally made a counter claim, saying he negotiated a $5.75million contract with the Broncos for his former client.

It would have seen Haas become the richest forward in the game – only for the front-rower to instead sign with rival NRL agent Tyran Smith three years ago.

Orr said when Haas defected to Smith, his company suffered ‘a loss of reputation and goodwill…particularly with the Broncos and the NRL’, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Haas argued through his legal team his intention was to end his agent deal with Orr in 2019.

Orr later went onto allege Haas failed to inform the Broncos about a 2019 incident for which he was charged with driving without a licence and using his mobile phone when behind the wheel.

The veteran manager, who has the likes of Kieran Foran and Valentine Holmes on his books, also claimed he assisted Haas in January 2021 when he was arrested by NSW Police at Tweed Heads for offensive language and intimidating police.

Haas was subsequently issued a two-year good behaviour bond, fined $50,000 by the NRL following an integrity unit investigation and banned for three matches.

He also was suspended for one match this season after a public scuffle with Brisbane teammate Albert Kelly, which was filmed by a member of the public.

Haas is under contract at Red Hill until the end of 2024, with court documents revealing he is earning $748,000 this season before his salary increases to $798,000 in 2023 and $848,000 the following year.
