Peloton instructor Leanne Hainsby, 35, hosts ‘first class’ since revealing breast cancer battle

Peloton instructor Leanne Hainsby has hosted her first cycling class since revealing she’s been privately battling breast cancer.

The fitness star, 35, was diagnosed in August after finding a lump in her breast and has since undergone one surgery and 12 weeks of chemotherapy.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Hainsby thanked her followers and devout Peloton members for their support.

‘FIRST CLASS BACK @onepeloton,’ began Hainsby, who included a slideshow of snaps from the day’s livestream.

‘I felt the love today. Honestly, I felt really apprehensive ahead of todays ride.’

She continued: ‘It’s a big platform and I’ve allowed myself to be vulnerable with you all, and today felt a bit like my first day at school, and that’s all a lot for so many reasons, but you know what, this was a milestone that felt so far away at one point, and here I am on the other side of it.

‘F**k yeah! Your kindness, and your support is beyond anything I could’ve imagined, and to have over 8.5k of you joining LIVE, and showing each other love in the moment is what it’s all about,’ she wrote.

‘On the bike, it’ll always be about YOU, and I’m so happy we got to sparkle together today!’

Her fiance and fellow Peloton instructor Ben Alldis was there in support of her big return.

Hainsby – who famously hosts Wednesday morning LIVE classes each week – began her post by rehashing their ‘eventful journey’ to the Peloton studio in London.

‘From train strikes and protests, to running through London, AND a pigeon flying straight into the side of my head, I literally just made it,’ she wrote.

Despite the chaos, Hainsby was thrilled to be spinning to the music of Nile Rodgers.

She called him ‘the coolest man on the planet’ and admitted to having a ‘fan girl moment’ while snapping a selfie with the legendary musician at a recent red carpet event.

‘I’m literally about to burst with excitement. I will run on any red carpet to find you Nile. Biggest fan.’

For her big ride, Hainsby rocked an orange sequin crop top and neon pink leggings.

She captured footage of herself just minutes before hopping on the bike as she gave a thumbs up at her dressing room mirror.

Hainsby shared the news of her six-month breast cancer battle last Friday with a candid Instagram post.

It included several images of the Peloton instructor receiving treatment in the hospital.

‘Two days before my best friend’s funeral, I found a lump in my breast,’ the British star said. ‘That really is a sentence I NEVER imagined writing.’

The spin instructor said she was initially misdiagnosed by a doctor who said there were no problems, as a second opinion revealed the breast cancer diagnosis.

‘I trusted my gut and got a second opinion,’ Hainsby said. ‘That saved my life. Check, and check again.’

Hainsby said the prior to undergoing chemotherapy, she and fiancé Benjamin Alldis completed a round of in vitro fertilization.

‘We weren’t mentally prepared, but we got it done and we’re so grateful,’ said Hainsby, who remained busy working during three months of chemotherapy.

‘As a Peloton instructor, a huge part of my role is about the members, and despite my diagnosis, that has always mattered to me hugely,’ Hainsby said. ‘My classes have given me a focus, and some sparkle in an otherwise incredibly tough time, so thank you to the members who had no idea the amount of joy they were bringing to me every day.’

Hainsby opened up about her regimen as she underwent treatment following her diagnosis.

‘I would teach my Wednesday morning LIVE classes, and then meet my Mum and go to the treatment suite for my weekly dose … Chemo is no joke,’ Hainsby said. ‘Cold caps are no joke.’

Hainsby said that she’s slated to have a portacath device, used to dispense medication, taken off her person, and will undergo radiotherapy for a two-week span.

She said that she will continued to undergo treatments for a ‘long time’ and that regular hospital visits will remain ‘the norm.’

Hainsby said she has faith in herself and her medical team amid her brave health battle.

‘I’m in fantastic hands, and I’ve got this,’ she wrote. ‘Nobody wants to be sat in a room and told they have cancer, and yet I’ve always felt one of the lucky ones. I am one of the lucky ones. Lucky to be diagnosed early, lucky to be moving fast through treatment, lucky to know I WILL BE OK.’

Hainsby said that her life outlook has become ‘so very different in times like’ these.

‘I think anyone who has had to ask, ‘Am I going to die?’ to a medical professional would probably say the same,’ she said. ‘But then you fight. You gain a strength you never knew you had, and you keep pushing forward. Strong, as healthy as possible, and empowered.’

Her fiancé Alldis, who is also a Peloton instructor, responded, ‘You have shown me time and time again over this last year why I’m the luckiest guy alive that you said yes to marrying me. Showing resilience, grace and still managing to be there for others while you go through this all. Your shining light is shining brighter than ever.’
