Peloton obsessives go to WAR with Dancing With the Stars fans after Cody Rigsby goes to finals

Peloton obsessives and Dancing With the Stars fans are feuding over the results of the semifinals of the show.

Many people were left shocked after famed Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby and his partner, Cheryl Burke, made it through to the final round on Monday, November 15 – despite getting the lowest score of the night from the judges. And now, they’re questioning how he got enough votes to stay in the competition.

Suni Lee and Sasha Farber, as well as Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev, got voted off in the end – and some people were not happy that Cody and Cheryl beat them out. But Cody’s fans quickly swooped in and come to his defense – starting a major war between the two groups.

Besides Cody and Cheryl, JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson, Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach, and Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten all also made it through to the final round, which will air on November 22.

Each week, the couple who receives the lowest combined total of judges’ points and audience votes is eliminated. So when Cody and Cheryl received the lowest score of the night from the judges – a 71 – viewers started to wonder how they beat Suni and Sasha and Melora and Artem.

‘Me trying to figure out why Suni got eliminated and not Cody,’ one fan wrote after the episode aired, alongside a well-known meme of a woman trying to figure out a big math problem.

‘UM WHAT! CODY WENT TO THE FINALS AND MELORA DIDNT?!’ another person added.

A third tweet read, ‘So Suni did stunts and flips and gets sent home while Cody was just there on stage.’

Some viewers even accused Peloton fans of forming a ‘cult’ so that they could vote for Cody and keep him in the competition.

‘Are peloton users in a cult? What’s going on? Cody over Suni?’ one Twitter user asked.

‘Peloton people stop voting for Cody! I know you love him but he did not deserve to go to finale night,’ another person wrote.

Someone else added, ‘This Peloton cult must be stopped!’

And Cody’s fans didn’t seem to deny these claims. One joked, ‘Never underestimate the power of the Peloton community and that’s a FACT.’

‘LOL’ing to myself about all the tweets hating on Cody going to the finals on #DWTS. If you don’t Peloton, you just don’t get it,’ another said.

A third person shared a video of a group of people biking and captioned it, ‘Peloton people on their way to vote for Cody every week.’

‘Peloton community reading all the comments questioning how Cody got through to the finals,’ one more person wrote, alongside a video that showed the Grinch smiling very suspiciously.

It turns out, even Cody and Cheryl were shocked that they made it through to the final round.

‘I’m still in shock, to be quite honest. I did not think it was going to happen, no,’ Cheryl told Us Weekly after the semifinals.

‘It’s crazy. I mean, I’ve seen it before on a show like this, obviously, with Bobby Bones and all of that, but you just never think it’s going to happen to you, I guess.’

Back in Season 27 of the show, Bobby surprised the nation when he took home the gold – especially since he had never scored more than a 24 out of 30 during the 2018 season.

Cody added, ‘Listen, we were at the bottom of the totem pole. So we were like, “Alright, this is our night. We did the best we can.”‘

The pair, who were in the bottom two last week, started off the night dancing a salsa and scored a 35 out of 40. Then, they danced the Argentine tango and earned a 36 out of 40 – giving them a total of 71 points for the night.

‘It’s really scary. I mean, this day has been a whole roller-coaster of emotions,’ Cheryl told the outlet of their scores. ‘And to even go from, like, dancing the tango then to, you know, dancing [to] Live Your Life. And then that elimination, it was really scary. We’re just happy to be here. Thank you, judges!’

In the beginning of the season, the two stars tested positive for COVID-19, and Cody later revealed that he actually contemplated quitting afterwards.

‘We definitely had a very bumpy, very rocky start to this. I remember talking to my boss or a friend of mine and I was like, “Should I just quit? Should I not do it? Like, I have COVID, it’s going to be so crazy.”‘ he previously told Page Six.

‘She was like, ’No, do this. It’ll feel like a memory in two weeks and you’ll get through.’

In the end, the Peloton instructor said he was ‘so glad’ that he stayed in the show.

‘I mean, it was just a thought. Those thoughts pop in your head,’ he added. ‘A part of you, the inner saboteur, is going to tell you to quit. It’s going to tell you that you can’t do it. You have to hold ground and push back from that ego and keep pumping.’
